The Karousel is the third incarnation of Linn’s patented single-point bearing – the heart of the LP12 that sets it apart from the competition. It offers smoother rotation and greater stability to give the best possible sound from your Sondek LP12.
Karousel is a result of the engineering expertise and experience gained since the launch of the original LP12 in 1973, combined with technological developments in material science and machining capabilities.
The original bearing and the later Cirkus bearing were both attached to the subchassis with three bolts. Karousel instead uses a substantial lock-nut fastening on the stainless steel housing, which gives a more uniform fixing, increasing rigidity where the bearing and sub-chassis join.
As Karousel runs smoother and quieter than its predecessors you will notice a reduction in background noise, along with better pitch stability and a cleaner sound, particularly in the bass.
Karousel is retro-fittable to any LP12 but for safety reasons it should not be used with any internal power supply (e.g. Valhalla or third party supplies) apart from the Majik PSU. External power supplies such as the Lingo or Radikal are fine.
Price includes fitting, and new suspension components (springs, grommets, nuts and washers).
